I’m so excited!

I am a scrapbooker. What is one thing that scrapbookers need to be able to create the beautiful pages they love so? PHOTOS!! What do you need to have good photos? A good camera!

Well, I have been using my sons point and shoot Nikon Coolpix camera for the past several years and have been eyeballing a couple of cameras that I thought I wanted. After discussion with the hubby, we decided to wait a bit and let me see which camera just really stuck with me. Kind of a window shopping escapade but without windows!!

After lots of thought and research, waiting for the right time (and hubby’s go-ahead) I finally decided on a camera, and it will be here tomorrow!! I CAN’T WAIT!!!

A wonderful friend has penned a perfectly accurate description of how most of us feel each and every day! It is so beautiful I felt it deserved to be shared. Hope you enjoy!

Post-Its and Sharpies

She looked in the mirror.

Not a passing glance, or a quick thought as to her appearance…. but she really looked.  Her eyes filled with tears as she touched one of the scars with her fingertip.  She quickly recalled where that ugly scar came from: jealousy.  Oh no, the memory of that pain welled up, causing more tears to splash on her hand.  She glanced down noting the ugly bruise that discontentment caused her yesterday.  Then, of course, there was the horrendously big scar that ran across her forehead — she remembered how pride left her with that one.  She began to weep.  How could she ever greet her love this morning looking like this?

He was amazing.  His compassionate and patient ways never ceased to leave her in wonder and amazement.  The tender, never-ending love that she was so grateful for… but knew that she was completely…

Making pickles!!

Cucumbers Español: Pepinos Português: Pepinos

Cucumbers Español: Pepinos Português: Pepinos (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Today has been an exhausting day, but a wonderful day. It started this morning with picking veggies from the garden. I really didn’t think I had that many cucumbers, but I had a TON of zucchini! My zucchini has like no other veggie I have ever grown! And, this is the first time I have ever planted it!! I am very pleased, to say the least.

So, this morning was time to pick and prepare for pickle making! My daughter and I had made plans to make pickles today since she has a good crop of cukes, as do I, not to mention the zucchini! I found a recipe for zucchini pickles that I want to try.

Well, after the picking is done, we head to the store to get our canning/pickling supplies. We bought jars, and spices, lots of sugar and vinegar, and a neat little kit with a jar holder, magnetic lid lifter, a funnel, and a little tool to help remove extra air from the jars!

4 hours later, after a trip to Walmart, Family Dollar, Tractor supply, and Brookshires, we finally head home to prep our cukes and make some pickles!! I’m starting to have concerns since my back is already killing me, and I am pretty close to exhausted! Thankfully, we had bought some lunch so we sat down and enjoyed our lunch after getting all the groceries unloaded and put away. Thank the Lord for a chance to rest a bit before the real work started!

Well, after washing jars, lids, cucumbers, pots and pans, and last nights dinner dishes ( I KNOW!!), slicing the cucumbers and onions, mixing the spices and vinegar, packing the jars, and water bathing them, about 5-6 hours later we have 12 pints and 12 quarts of bread and butter pickles! Can’t wait to taste them.

Only downfall….we haven’t even touched the big bushel basket full of zucchini!!

We are making zucchini pickles Monday!!

Hi folks! I am a volunteer with the East Texas Pregnancy Help Center and many of you know just how much I love it! This is an awesome ministry, helping so many young women, as well as young men, in making critical decisions about their lives. Yes, one of our goals is to save lives, which we do by educating young pregnant women about their options and everything involved in any of their options. We believe that many times decisions are made with either no information, or false information. That is why we educate on the TRUE FACTS of abortion, adoption, and parenting. We do NOT offer, nor refer for abortion services. We simply tell them straight, honest, truth about procedures, risks, and effects- immediate and long term, of any decision they make. It is because of this, and our strong faith in God, that this ministry has been so successful in the short time it has been in place! Because we share the love of God with everyone who comes through our doors, they are blessed! WE are blessed! God blesses us each and every day by allowing us to continue in this ministry!

Yes, we have some very difficult days or cases, but in all things we trust God. We listen to our Father, and we follow His guidance. Prayer is a MAJOR part of our ministry, either through our constant prayers, or the prayers of those warriors we have praying for us and the ministry. Without these prayers, we could not do this! Without the wonderful support of so many, this ministry would not work. Thank you to all who support ETPHC in one way or another!

It is for your continued support that I am making this request. Our clients, mostly young women who have found themselves unexpectedly pregnant and frightened about what is to come, make many sacrifices for their unborn children. These young women give up fun evenings out with friends to come to our center for educational classes and Bible studies! They come to the center for parenting classes, life skill classes, labor and delivery class, cooking, financial management and other classes, as well as Bible study. Currently we have “Sheparding a Child’s Heart” going on and the participants are enthusiastically participating!

We are seeing lives changed! These young people are seeing the true love of God through the staff and volunteers of ETPHC, which often, sadly, they have not seen even from their home churches! It is this that is turning these young people BACK toward God! Many have felt that their church, pastors, family, friends, etc., have turned their backs on them or scorned them because of a mistake that they made. But then, by the wonderful grace of God, they come through our doors! From the very first contact they make with ETPHC they feel the love of God. Why? Because everyone who works with this ministry has been directly affected in a very personal manner by some aspect of an unplanned pregnancy. Maybe it is personally, maybe it is a family member, or maybe it is a friend who had an unplanned pregnancy. Everyone there has a story to share. God has called each member of this ministry in a special way, either to share their story, to help someone in a situation similar to what they have been through, or just to support those in difficult situations.

We have many supporters who do not directly work at the center, but their support is just as important! Without them, this ministry would not succeed. These supporters consist of prayer warriors, financial donors, donors of baby items, and those who donate in different ways and with different projects. Our prayer warriors are some of the most powerful prayer warriors I have ever seen!!

It is more of these ‘extra curricular’ supporters that I am seeking just now.

I have been given the privilege of hosting a class this summer for our young mothers. This class is one in which they will create a very special memory album, or scrapbook, of their new baby! Most of these new mothers have very limited resources and a class like this is a luxury to them! But, they deserve this very special treat! Donations received or promised thus far have not even begun to scratch the surface of the need. So, please, continue to read about this class. Help if you can. Definitely pray for us, our clients, this class, and our center.

Please, please, please…..prayerfully consider this.

Hey folks! I have an awesome opportunity for you to be a tremendous blessing to a new mother! The East Texas Pregnancy Help Center will be hosting a class this summer for new mothers to create a scrapbook of their new babies. You can help by sponsoring one or more mothers. For just $50 your sponsorship will provide all the necessary supplies for a mother to create a beautiful album filled with decorated pages and photos of her baby. Won’t you share the love of Jesus with these young ladies and help make this class a success? Here is the info:

WHAT:     Scrapbooking Class for East Texas Pregnancy Help Center Clients

WHEN:    June 12-July 26, 2012

WHY:       Mothers who have limited resources deserve the opportunity to showcase their memories. The clients of ETPHC work very hard to earn points to obtain necessities for their new babies. I would like to provide them with something fun to do, that costs them nothing. This will also be a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Jesus with them in such a way that they are not being pressured to make a decision right at that moment. I believe that if someone sees and feels the love of Jesus Christ through something as simple as the gift of a memory album in which they are also taught how to create such an album on a shoestring budget, they will see that Jesus, nor His followers, is not something or someone to be frightened of, or resistant to. When presented in a loving, non-judgmental manner, the Good News of Jesus Christ is much more readily accepted!

You can help me to share Christ and His love with these young mothers by helping with the expense of supplies. This initial class will be offered for 10-15 participants at an estimated cost of $50-$75 per person, for a total cost of $500+. I realize that sounds expensive, but the cost includes an album and all supplies to complete a minimum of 20 pages in that album. Also, if donations exceed total cost of materials for this class, anything extra will be donated directly to ETPHC for other programs.

SCRAPBOOK SUPPLIES CAN BE DONATED AS WELL, IF YOU SO CHOOSE. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

You can donate very easily by following this link to fundrazr!!

Donation of scrapbook items or supplies can be either dropped off at ETPHC Mon-Thurs, between 9-4, or if you choose to mail them, you may send them to me at:

Judy Hall, 2533 County Road 101, Jasper, TX 75951; OR, you may send them directly to ETPHC @ 157 Milam St., Jasper, TX 75951

If you cannot assist with the cost of the class, please keep myself and the clients and staff of ETPHC in your prayers.

Thank you so much for considering this request!

YOU MUST TRUST GOD!! ALWAYS…

There are so many things going on in my life right now, thank you Jesus! So many different aspects that can go so many different ways. The only way I can get through these next few months is to totally trust in God! I know He has everything under control. I know He has a plan for how everything is going to work out. I don’t have to understand it. I just have to have faith that what God is doing is what is best for me and my family.

Some happenings of the past 15 months are about to come to a boiling point. Either things will boil over and go downhill very fast, which will make my and my husbands lives very difficult for another 12-24 months, OR things will finally start to get back to normal as the fire gets turned down. I am praying for normalcy finally!

I always thought that I wanted things to go a certain way and if they didn’t go that way then people just didn’t know what they were missing out on. But, I have found that people appreciate a good, honest person no matter what. When you go through a difficult time, as we have recently, you find out who truly cares about you.

We have had more phone calls, messages, hugs, offers and promises of prayer, handshakes, smiles, and encouraging words over these past many months than we have had our entire lives! I cannot even begin to thank everyone for their continued support. Simple words just cannot express my gratitude.

Mostly though, I thank my wonderful, awesome, almighty and sovereign God for getting us through this rough time, and for teaching us the things that we have learned over the past year. God has shown us where we need to be, changes we need to make in our thinking, and how to prioritize things in our lives.  In all things, HE is first!!

No matter what path we take, we must always ask God to lead the way. If we have to take a detour, we have to realize that God has already take that detour and He knows where it is going to lead us! We just have to trust Him. If we have an opportunity to leap off a cliff, we must ask God is this is His will for us, and then listen very carefully for His response. If He says jump, then we must jump! If He says turn around, then we must turn around. If He says wait just a little while, then we must wait! In all things, we must seek His guidance and wisdom.

We pray for peace, comfort, understanding, when what we really want is control over a situation. We want things to go the way we think they should go, whether it is the right or wrong way, whether it is what is best for us or not. We can’t see the actual end result of what we want. We only see what we THINK the end result will be. God KNOWS what the end result will be whether we choose option a, option b, option c, or all of the above! And even better, He knows what we are going to choose so He is already there!

We harm ourselves and those we love more by trying to do things ourselves, by trying to prove that we are strong, or smart, or the best for the job, or the best choice for the task. When we do that, we fail to allow God to show others that we are strong, or smart, or the best choice! God wants to be the one that shows people just how wonderful we can be, by allowing God to shine through us! When we allow His glory to shine through us, we are unstoppable!

All things work together for good to those who love God!” “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Why don’t we listen more closely to these words? Why don’t we live our lives as if we TRULY believe these words? We always question if this is what we should do, is this what God wants me to do? Simple way to find out the answer is to read His word!! He has given us this instruction book for life, yet we ignore it! Sure, we read a little from time to time, or we might even take it to church with us and open it while the preacher is talking, but how often do you truly read and STUDY God’s word? How often do you truly apply the lessons He gives us to your own life? That’s not often enough! We should be living each moment of each day to accomplish one simple task….to honor and glorify God! If everything we do is to bring Him honor and glory, we cannot fail.

Go out and do something today that brings honor and glory to God. Leave no doubt to others as to whether you love God or not. Share the peace you have in your heart and show someone how they too can have that peace! Pray without ceasing!!!
